What was the idea that inspired you to start SOMA Laboratory?

SOMA Laboratory was founded by Vlad Kreimer in 2016 after success with the LYRA-8. Being a practicing musician and a professional in the field of engineering and sound production, Vlad himself designed instruments for his own setup, including LYRA-4, the sister of the aforementioned LYRA-8. SOMA founder embodies in his devices one of the main ideas of SOMA Laboratory in general — the unity of science and human; this idea is widely revealed by organismic synthesizers, for example, LYRA-8 and PULSAR-23. Vlad’s research in philosophy, neurophysiology, spiritual practices, meditation, and, of course, in the field of sound research helps Vlad bring these concepts to life.

SOMA Laboratory is a small boutique company of like-minded people who are in love with expressive high-quality sound and are ready to spend all their time and energy to realize their vision and ideals.

We consider the Modular Commune Festival to be one of the most important events in the life of the synthesizer industry and electronic music in general in China. Since SOMA Laboratory takes part in all significant exhibitions and festivals worldwide, we consider it necessary to be present here too. This is a great opportunity for us to introduce amazing people to our musical philosophy.

We look forward to presenting our instruments to the wonderful guests of the Modular Commune Festival. We are confident that we will be able to meet significant figures in the local electronic scene there. And also we are sure that our devices can be very useful and effective for local artists, so we consider it an important point to increase SOMA Laboratory brand awareness in China.

What kind of products are you mainly planning to showcase?

The festival will definitely feature two of our new instruments: FLUX and LYRA-4.
In addition, everyone can see and try our well-known instruments: PULSAR-23, TERRA, LYRA-8, COSMOS, as well as more compact devices RoAT and ETHER.
