Are you interested in experimental music, electronics, synthesizers, DIY technology, and sound art?

Error Instruments, an experimental arts & technology project from the Netherlands, is hosting a special workshop together with Modular Commune.

We will offer three different standalone experimental synthesizer workshops:

🔥 Ritual Synthesis with a Flame — 650 RMB
An experimental synthesizer exploring sound through flame and unusual electronic processes.

☁️ Cloud Busting — 650 RMB
A fully experimental standalone synthesizer designed for unpredictable and creative sound exploration.

⚡ Data Synth — 650 RMB
A harsh-noise experimental synthesizer for creating extreme and unconventional sounds.

What will you learn?

These are hands-on DIY workshops. You will learn:

  • How to use a soldering iron
  • How electronic components work
  • How to build your own synthesizer from a DIY kit
  • How to test and troubleshoot your instrument
  • How to use your finished synthesizer to create experimental sounds

We will make sure your instrument works before you leave. If you encounter problems during the workshop, we will help you troubleshoot and repair them.

Normally, these instruments cost around 2,000 RMB or more when fully assembled, and similar experimental instruments can be considerably more expensive in Europe and online.

We have kept the workshop price at 650 RMB to make experimental electronics, sound art, and technology more accessible to young people in China.

Our goal is to give people the opportunity and motivation to explore the connection between art, technology, electronics, and sound.

All three instruments are standalone — no computer or modular system is required.
