HATAKEN

Hataken has been an electronic music producer, performer since the mid 90’s. His musical style employs ambient chilled out grooves using synthesizers to span multiple genres that create a unique style and psychedelic feeling. Hataken has performed many festivals including Boom 2012 (7 hours live show with analog vintage rigs), Ozora festival 2013&2014, Sonica festival 2013&1014, Sound Wave(2009&2010), SXSW(2008), FUJIROCK fes.(2023)  ,SUPERBOOTH24 and more. Hataken released his solo album “From Tokyo to Detroit come in Detroit” (BWLR/2021),“A Prana Planet”(Matsuri Digital Chil/ 2017) “,Ascension”(TKG music/2012). 

Shifting from vintage analogue synth performances to modular synthesizers, Hataken has become an icon in the Japanese modular synthesizer scene. In 2013 he organized the Tokyo Festival of Modular; a yearly event that showcases international modular synthesizer technology and artist performances. His goal is to foster the next generation of modular synthesizer music.

Hataken has taken part in many collaborative projects. Wåveshåper is a project with Greg Hunter which produced an album and series of live performances in Europe. He is an organizer of the alternative culture underground platform ZEN ZEN. Hataken performed and recorded with renowned guitarist SUGIZO (LUNA SEA, X JAPAN), and has been featured on SUGIZO’s album “ONENESS M” (3 tracks), remix album “SWITCHED ON OTO” in 2018 and “愛と調和” in 2021.finally as an improvisational live unit “SUGIZO x HATAKEN” released an album “Voyage to The Higherself” from UNIVERSAL MUSIC(2022)

 HATAKEN modular synthesizer live & workshop tour US in 2018  from SFC, Portland, Seattle, Phoenix. His interview can see on the legendary book , “PATCH & TWEAK” (p108-p112). He also joined Tokyo University “memu earth lab” ‘s “Otocare”project 2021-2022.

And writing monthly colum series with Youtube, tittled “Patch the World for Peace” that introducing his recommending modules each month. Also demonstrators for electronic instrument brands as Roland,Moog,Buchla,Pioneer DJ,Malekko Heavy industry, EarthQuaker devices etc. For Japan. Offered many Workshops about modular synthesis and live performance tips.

HATAKEN also performed at FUJIROCK2023 for Coppe’s feat.DJ KENSEI & HATAKEN. In 2024, he made a live and workshop tour HATAKEN EUROPETOUR24 for Denmark, Spain, Finland and Germany and succeed.

モジュラーシンセを駆使し新たなエレクトロ ミュージック表現を探求。 国内をはじめ、世界中のモジュールメーカー/アーティスト/ファンから注目されている。

90年代より北米、欧州、アジア各地のフェス、クラブで精力的にライヴ活動を行い、Greg HunterとのデュオWåveshåperは高く評価されBOX CDとして再発される。

2013年よりTokyo Festival of Modularを主催し、10周年を迎える。モジュラーシンセの国際見本市として、海外メーカーの展示、海外アーティストのコンサートを開催し、モジュラーシンセ普及にも努めている。

2016年頃よりギタリストSUGIZOとのデュオ即興ライブユニットの活動を開始、2022年アルバムCD ”the Voyage to the higher self”をリリース。日本のジャムシーンを盛り上げるべく積極的に活動を展開している。

2021年から東京大学memu earth labによるOtocare プロジェクトにも参加。“環境において音が培う価値”についての研究中。

2023年Fuji Rock Festival, Pyramid GardenにCoppe’のサポートメンバーとしてDJ Kenseiと出演。

2024年韓国ソウルに続き、HATAKEN EUROPETOUR24 （コペンハーゲン、バルセロナ、ガルシア、ヘルシンキ、ベルリン）の欧州ツアーで成功を収めている。
