American-born electronic producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist, thruoutin, has been based in China since 2009. His work varies from project to project but often revolves around the combining of different genres with a focus on organic and digital sounds. As a DJ, thruoutin showcases music that influences him as a producer including left-field club genres that float around footwork, gqom, bass music, amapiano, deconstructed club, and ambient music. 

He has toured extensively across North America, Europe, and Asia, releasing music on various labels. Recently, he collaborated with Chengdu’s New Noise, Shanghai’s Play Rec and Zaaang, as well as international labels like Aud-Art, Silence.epi, and The Fourth Wind Records. He has also performed on Boiler Room China and played at festivals such as the Wuzhen Theatre Festival and Chunyou. The musical works of thruoutin are best listened to on Bandcamp where there is a comprehensive collection of EPs, splits, and albums. There are three recommended releases: Ghost Lineage (New Noise), Perseverance Selects feat. Abbe Shushu (Daft Pop Unicat Attack), and Contingent of Outlying Territory (Ran Music). 

Brad M. Seippel aka thruoutin was born on November 16th, 1984 in Metairie, Louisiana, USA. Being the son of American and Brazilian parents, he was constantly exposed to a wide range of musical styles throughout his childhood. His father played (and continues to play to this day) drums and conga in New Orleans-based rock and soul bands, and introduced him to his first bass guitar. Besides the bass, his home was full of instruments of all ilk, and childhood friends and family unceasingly introduced new music to him which he absorbed rigorously. His first recordings were made at his parents’ house around the age of 13. He soon fostered an interest in stringed instruments while playing in punk bands in high school in Louisiana. Later on, like many young adults expanding their musical horizons, he formed an interest in electronic music production and field recordings while living in Mobile, Alabama during university. Seippel played in various local bands and ensembles, before turning his focus on electronic music around the time of junior year in college. Using computers, he began to produce his music and connected with a community of like-minded musicians over the internet (especially on the p2p file-sharing software Soulseek). He started his solo project, thruoutin, during his final two years of university, between 2004 and 2005. In 2006, at the age of 22, he released his first record as thruoutin, I know you’re my voicemails.

After graduation, Seippel lived in New Orleans for a year before immigrating to Ningbo, China to learn Mandarin Chinese and later to Beijing, China to pursue music production and audio engineering. Once again connecting with the community of musicians and artists in his new surroundings, he soon became involved with the local music scene, joining Dongcheng District-based boutique label Jingweir, and has since collaborated with such musicians as Shen Lijia, Michelle Proksell, Anita Pan, and Song Zhao among others. Seippel played bass guitar for the bands Yantiao (2011-2012), Secret Knives (2012), Mammals (2015-2016), and Social Boar (2016). He has opened for such performing artists as Daedalus, Telefon Tel Aviv, Branko, Jamie Woon, Japandroids, and Subs, among others. Seippel currently resides in the Chaoyang district of Beijing and runs the production studio Brevity of Motion Sounds.

Brad M. Seippel (thruoutin) 在1984年11月16日出生于美国路易斯安那州的梅塔里。作为一对美国和巴西父母的儿子，他在整个童年时期都不断接触各种音乐风格。他的父亲在新奥尔良的摇滚乐队和灵魂乐队中演奏（至今依然在演奏）鼓和康茄，并给他介绍了他的第一把低音吉他。除了贝斯之外，他的家中还充满着各种各样的乐器，朋友和家人不断地向他介绍新音乐，他也会汲汲吸收。
