Wanfan 万子昊

Wanfan is a music producer, DJ, and film composer based in Guangzhou, China. His approach to music begins with the perception of sound as color, texture, and space. Through sound design, audio processing, and modular synthesis, he explores the physical and expressive boundaries of sound.

For Wanfan, music does not need to exist within fixed stylistic boundaries. His work is rooted in an interest in the relationship between sound, the body, space, and the natural world, with an emphasis on music that feels free, fluid, and perceptually alive. Jazz, classical, folk, traditional and world music, ambient music, and experimental electronic music all inform his musical vocabulary. Rather than identifying with a particular genre, he is interested in the experience and sensibility that music can create. Wanfan is his own genre.

His exploration of sound has led him deeply into modular synthesis and experimental electronic instruments, as well as into questions of how the body can directly participate in the creation of sound. Together with a friend, he developed a CV breath controller that translates breathing and physical movement into control signals for hardware synthesizers, turning the body into a direct interface for musical expression. He has also combined modular synthesis with installation art, developing systems for real-time generative sound and exploring dynamic relationships between performer, machine, space, and sound.

Wanfan studied Film Scoring at the Beijing Modern Music Institute, where he received training in music composition, arrangement, sound design, and music for visual media. His studies and subsequent work have given him experience in composing music for film and other visual projects.

Alongside his artistic practice, Wanfan has more than four years of experience teaching music production. He has taught at a Pioneer DJ authorized retailer, working with music enthusiasts, international students, independent artists, producers, and DJs. His teaching focuses on connecting production techniques and sound design with individual musical sensibility.

Wanfan’s experience working at a record store also played an important role in shaping his musical perspective. Through listening to and working with records from different regions and musical traditions, he developed a broad and eclectic understanding of music—from jazz, folk, and ambient music to experimental electronic and world music.

Wanfan is currently active as a music producer, DJ, film composer, and music production educator, while preparing his forthcoming solo material and an album with his band.

Wanfan 万子昊是一名音乐人、DJ及影视配乐创作者，现居广州。他以听觉中的色彩、质感与空间感知音乐，并通过声音设计、音响处理与模块合成等方式探索声音的边界。

对 Wanfan 而言，音乐并不需要被固定在某一种风格之中。他关注声音与身体、空间以及自然感受之间的关系，追求自由、流动而具有感知性的音乐表达。爵士、古典、民族音乐、民谣、氛围音乐以及实验电子等不同形式的音乐都构成了他的创作语汇，而他更在意音乐本身所产生的感受，而非其所属的类型。Wanfan 即是自己的风格。

他的声音探索使他逐渐深入模块合成器与电子乐器系统，并与朋友共同开发 CV 呼吸控制器，将呼吸与身体动作转化为硬件合成器可识别的控制信号，使身体成为音乐创作过程中的直接媒介。与此同时，他也将模块合成器与装置艺术结合，尝试构建能够实时生成声音与音乐的系统，让演奏者、机器、空间与声音之间形成动态关系。

Wanfan 毕业于北京现代音乐研修学院，主修影视配乐。在校期间接受了系统的音乐创作、编曲、声音设计及影视音乐训练，并积累了影视配乐相关的创作经验。

除个人创作外，Wanfan 也拥有四年以上的音乐制作教学经验，曾在 Pioneer DJ 授权零售体系旗下教授音乐制作，教学对象包括音乐爱好者、留学生、独立音乐人、制作人及 DJ。他注重将制作技术、声音设计与个人审美结合，帮助学生建立属于自己的创作方法。

Wanfan 曾有唱片店工作经历，这段经历使他长期接触来自不同地域与文化背景的音乐作品，也进一步拓展了他的音乐视野。从爵士、民谣、氛围音乐，到实验电子、世界音乐等不同领域的音乐，都成为其持续探索声音的参考。

目前，Wanfan 活跃于音乐行业，身份涵盖音乐制作人、DJ、影视配乐创作者及音乐制作讲师，并正在筹备个人作品及乐队专辑。
