About Modular Commune
The Modular Commune is a series of events about modular synth and other electronic instruments, arranged in Beijing, China. The Modular Commune event lets people gather in a vibrant and open space to exchange ideas, perform, and showcase their own systems to the world of modular synth. It aims to introduce the concept and technology of modular synths to a greater crowd and invite them learn more about techniques as well as exciting new products.
The Modular Commune takes place in Beijing on a quarterly basis and mainly consists of three parts – trade show, workshops, and live performances. This iteration is a special event and the most ambitious so far. That is why this iteration of the Modular Commune has been named “Modular Commune Festival”. The event will take place in 798- Art District, which is a popular attraction for many visitors from close and afar alike because of its many galleries, exhibits, and events housed in old refashioned and refurbished factories in the capital.
The Modular Commune events have been growing massively in popularity. In only 9 years, it has grown from a handful of visitors to attracting people from all over the country and from abroad in the order of thousands, both from within and beyond the modular synth world.
The Modular Commune is more than just a trade show and performance showcase event for artists and industry representatives. It is a space for people to meet, a festival of ideas, a space to make new friends and foster collaboration opportunities. This philosophy is in the core conception, which is also suggested in the events’ name in Mandarin – 交流方式, which translates to “The way of exchange”.
关于「交流方式」：
「交流方式」是在中国北京举办的一系列关于模块合成器和其他电子乐器的活动。「交流方式」活动让人们聚集在一个充满活力的开放空间中，交流想法、现场表演并向模块合成器的世界展每个人自己的音乐创作系统。它旨在向更多的人介绍模块合成器的概念和技术，并邀请大家了解更多背后的技术以及新品信息。
「交流方式」每季度在北京举行一次，主要包括三个部分——展览、交流会和现场演出。2024年11月将是一次特殊的活动，也是迄今为止最大规模的一次。这也是为什么这次「交流方式」叫做「模块音乐节」的原因。这次活动将在 798 艺术区举行，这里是游客的热门景点，有很多画廊、展览和丰富的活动，这些活动都在首都的旧工厂里举办。
「交流方式」活动的受欢迎程度正在大幅提升。仅 9 年时间，它就从仅有的少数参观者发展到吸引来自全国各地和国外数千人的规模，既有来自模块合成器领域的，也有来自其他领域的。
「交流方式」不仅仅是为艺术家和业内人士举办的展览和演出活动，它更是一个人们聚会的空间，一个思想的盛会，一个结交新朋友和促进合作机会的空间。这一理念正是其核心，也正是活动中文名称「交流方式」所想表达的「交流之道」。
